We missed the trip to Didcot Town - too hot for Miss on that day. Then we planned the journey to Reading City in the FA Cup, but Daddy managed to break his electrics in the car on the Saturday morning! Notice a trend in this thread with cars…
At the end of September, Mummy & Daddy took Miss on her next away day - a trip to Buckinghamshire to the Meadow, home of Chesham United.
A long drive, sitting in traffic for much of it, plus a detour to a petrol station in Amersham after a rookie error from Daddy - seriously who forgets to check their oil these days!!!
We pulled up to the ground and the car park was full, so after a 20-point turn, we got out the club car park and found alternative parking opposite.
That pit-stop in Amersham and walk to the ground meant we arrived in the ground just after kick-off, through a side gate with the pushchair, with the scoreline still 0-0.
Chesham had won seven from seven before this game, but it wasn’t just the win in this one that was memorable, it also the debut for a certain “Super Luke Cairney in goal.”
Ricardo German put Chesham ahead shortly after half-time, he’d already struck the post moments earlier. But City turned the game around.
After a spell of failures from the penalty spot, Pip Nolan made no mistake to level the scores at 1-1 (Miss was perched in the back of the net on the wall behind the goal to see this one and she gave Pip a triumphant clap) 👏
With less than ten minutes later, Conor Lynch tapped home from close range to trigger jubilant scenes from the travelling Citizens.
With a long journey home after the game, Miss had her dinner in the bar with Uncle Mike, the Gaffer and the team before the journey home.
She was also treated to a nappy change in the baby changing facilities and had a good explore of the well sized clubhouse floor!
Mummy & Daddy treated themselves to a takeaway when they got home - what a day!
