So once again, despite a ground being so close to us… a first outing to AFC Stoneham’s ‘new’ ground for Gracie and I saw Winchester City Flyers Ladies win 3-0 against AFC Stoneham Ladies in the Hampshire Cup.

I call it ‘new’ because it is that new anymore in fairness, but we were still christening it for the first time, just like we did with Wimborne and Slough last weekend.

A rare Saturday with no game, we chose to spend it with family and friends and a day by the seaside with games. A much better and important choice for us ❤️

It’s been a difficult start to 2026 due to health and some big decisions to make - so a journey to Devon was right for Saturday. And we’ll be back for a short break in a few weeks too ☀️🏖️ sadly not beach weather, but you can’t beat some sea air!

On Sunday, Gracie and I went into Eastleigh to do some shopping and then ventured down to Stoneham for some Sunday afternoon football.

As I said previously, this was our first visit. We were delighted to find so much free parking.

We entered though the main reception - make sure you’ve registered!

Then we stopped in the large cafe area and got a coffee (hot chocolate for Grace) and even an ice cream…in January! Followed by a freezing slushie 😂

On the pitch, after a tricky first-half, three goals in the second-half gave Flyers a comfortable 3-0 win and a spot in the quarter-finals of the cup.

Off the pitch we saw Tony and a very excited Gracie saw her Nanna and Dadad! Thanks to Nanna for sacrificing your phone in the second-half so Grace could continue watching One Direction - her new found obsession 😂 plus a bit of car pool karaoke with James Corden!

Perfect facilities for us, a stand with plenty of seats, all weather pitch so postponements are incredibly unlikely! Large cafe with ice creams, ample free parking and baby changing facilities ☑️🧷

We will definitely be back - probably for a Wessex game (or Southern League Division One at this rate as Stoneham are flying in the league!)

Well done Hampshire FA and AFC Stoneham 👏
