The end of an era

So the grass pitch at Winchester City has seen its last game, a 1-0 win against Beaconsfield Town and Miss and I were there to see it, and play on it!

As always on a Saturday now, Mummy went to work in the morning and Miss had a lunchtime nap before having lunch and then heading down to the Charters Community Stadium.

Miss roamed around as she does pre-match, says hello to everybody, smiled sweetly at the ladies in the 5* Burger Bar and managed to get herself a chocolate bar 🤦‍♂️

We positioned ourselves over by the home bench, said hello to all the team and staff including Uncle Mike, Pete and Uncle Davo. High-fives also said with Coler and Prycey.

Much of the game was spent chasing a football around (that’s Miss… not the players 🤷‍♂️) but we both saw Olly Balmer’s well-taken winning goal on his birthday 🎂 Olly Balmer doing Olly Balmer things once again 🎯

After the game, everyone made their way off the pitch and the supporters made their way on (Miss and I included).

Miss had a great time roaming around the pitch and in particular playing with the gate on to the pitch and the sponsor boards. (Of course she found the board from my work… 🤦‍♂️)

After a play on the pitch, it was time for the end of season awards. Miss was very well behaved throughout the speeches, mainly as she was eyeing up empty beer glasses and stones, her latest fascination.

It was lovely to see Uncle Mike’s years of efforts acknowledged and Miss was joining in with the clapping for all of the award winners.

A great send off - the last home game of the season and last game on grass at Winchester City and we were there to be part of it ❤️
