Supermarine survive but the crisps don’t!

Miss and I set off on our travels once again, another new ground for Miss (number 19 to be precise) - Swindon Supermarine.

Football mornings are becoming well-drilled now with Mummy going to work, Miss having a play and having lunch before setting off for ⚽️

It was only an hours’ drive this time up to the Webbswood Stadium. The drive was clear, Miss was asleep by Sutton Scotney and woke up as we pulled in to the car park at the ground.

Parking was fine, we got the last space in the main car park. A quick bum change and we headed for the gate. There weren’t any signs so we ended up going the wrong direction initially, but a helpful steward carried Miss up the steps with me in her pushchair.

It is a smart set up at Supermarine, but not ideal with a pushchair. The clubhouse has a raised wooden floor outside so needs some careful driving with a pushchair. There were no baby changing facilities outside (despite ladies and gents toilets behind the stand). There may have been some in the clubhouse - but it was too busy and navigating our way through the people with a pushchair was hard enough as it was.

We walked all the way behind the far goal to get to the away bench, but it was fenced off so had to walk back through the people again to get back to the away bench. Enough time for me to invest in a pasty however, very reasonably priced. Miss got some ready salted crisps - more on that later!

We finally got to where the team were warming up and said our hello’s to everyone 👋

We watched the first-half from next to the away bench. Supermarine led 1-0 at half-time. Miss ran back and forth in the full size goal that was there, whilst going to say hello to the Griggs family dog 🐶 Miss also found the Manager’s Office and made herself at home…

In the second-half, we roamed behind the goal that City were attacking. Sadly City lost 3-0 but Miss was exploring her surroundings. She decided to open her packet of crisps and spread them all over the concrete floor before then eating them… sorry Mummy 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ there were too many witnesses for me to not name and shame myself now!

The game ended with the players coming over to give their high-fives and Miss had a quick run on the pitch with Uncle Mike.

The locals celebrated their survival, the final day victory meant they remained in the league, with Hayes and Yeading and Beaconsfield getting relegated alongside Harrow Borough and Didcot Town.

Away from the pitch - a nice set-up with friendly stewards. However, access is tight with a pushchair by the clubhouse and the wooden floor outside is challenging. Plus, please remove the stinging nettles behind the far goal - Miss was desperate to have a play with these (and probably eat them) luckily I got to her in time!

Up next - who knows, but there is plenty more football to be played this season yet so watch this space for next weekend ⚽️🍼🧷
