The less said about this away day the better on the pitch, with City losing 5-1 to Sholing.
It was only a short drive to Sholing for us, although Saints being at home did mean traffic was challenging when leaving the Motorway.
Parking is easy at Sholing, the overflow grass area is never a problem to park and an easy walk up to the the gates.
Miss and I got to the turnstile, the gateman identified the pushchair and they opened a side gate for us - much obliged!
Inside the ground we went and got our burger and chips (chips for Miss) and she now has an empty takeaway cup so Daddy can drink his tea in peace, and Miss pretends to sit hers with her own cup.
The clubhouse is new at Sholing and there is a large Disabled Toilet, sadly no baby changing though. But a big Disabled Toilet meant an easier nappy change than recent weeks, so out coming our old friend, the portable changing mat.
We found our spot to watch the game next to the away bench. Gracie had her obligatory pre-match greeting with Uncle Mike and the Gaffer and she then sat on a well placed wheelie bin which was pitchside next to the away bench. Miss found this brilliant to generate atmosphere by banging, although at times she also chose to bang on the bench too!
In the second-half, we went behind the goal and stood with the City fans. Miss perched on the fence behind the goal and saw City score their goal.
Then we went straight home at full-time so Miss could have dinner at home and get to bed at a reasonable time.
Not mentioning the game, it was a good day out. Good facilities, add a baby change table into the disabled toilets and Sholing have it nailed! Even without, good accessible facilities and stewards that are thoughtful and helpful. Good work Boatmen!
