Bridport dish out a battering after Dawlish delight

It was a sunny Saturday morning and after a week of debating where to go, the day arrived and I still didn’t know…
Worcester was on the radar (we will make it there this season!), Cheltenham and Torquay were too pricey, Plymouth sold out (fair play 👏), Clevedon Town was also on the radar… so with no decision, we got in the car at 10:00 and headed down the A303.
There was glorious sunshine and Devon is a beautiful part of the world in the sunshine, Miss loves games, so Dawlish sprung to mind. Having popped in there already earlier this summer, it was the perfect day for it.
A really decent journey down (you can tell the summer holidays are over!) and we parked up at Dawlish station. A short walk from Dawlish station is the arcades…

Miss re-acquainted herself with Rubble, Chase, Peppa and George and had a great time firing water guns at dinosaurs in the arcades!
We grabbed an ice cream on the way back to the car, Miss’ ice cream didn’t survive the journey back to the car…

We made the short journey to Coombe Valley, home of Teignmouth. Teignmouth were hosting Bridport in South West Peninsula Premier Division East (that was quite a mouthful!)
The ground is nestled at the bottom of the valley surrounded by houses that overlook it, very unusual and quirky. Parking is limited so we parked on the street, incredibly tight so we both had to exit on the opposite side of the car 🤦♂️
It’s not obvious to see where the entrance is, no signs or anything, just a small gap next to the fence which has the turnstile. Looking at Futbology, there was a long seated stand… not anymore!

Where the seats used to be is now a slightly tiered wall, provides a decent view when you make it up there after climbing several precarious steps. Decent little scoreboard too!

Space was limited for Miss to roam around, and ‘open’ fencing meant she entered the pitch several times 🤷♂️
Facilities were lacking slightly with a small tea bar in the corner and some uniquely signed toilets… that said, for the level, there is clearly lots of work happening at the ground and Teignmouth are well supported. Interested to know where the beers 🍺 kept coming from - I never saw a bar 🤔

A great day out, and plenty of goals, Bridport demolished the hosts 7-0 in a lively affair! No baby changing facilities but after several stops on the way and way back, on this occasion that didn’t cause us any problems. Pushchair access these days doesn’t concern us as it was left at home, but the steep steps would have made this problematic.
Lovely day though and plenty of games and goals!
Daddy is working next Saturday… I wonder what’s on next Sunday 🤔 sorry Mummy 😘
