Back amongst friends

And so seven pre-season friendlies into 2024-25 and we finally saw Winchester City back in action. Miss and I left Totton & Eling and headed across the New Forest to Bashley for the Dave Jose Memorial Trophy.
Parking at Bashley Road was a nightmare. No parking at the ground available, the nearby cricket club car park was also full so it was a side road around the corner for us. That being said, due to my media contributions for the club, our names were on the gate so thanks to both clubs are entry cost was £0!

Sadly - no baby changing facilities in the clubhouse at Bashley. A bum change in the car had to suffice for this one.
It is a lovely ground, but it has seen better days to be honest. That being said, everyone at the club is lovely and it is very friendly and it has a great bar too.
It was great to see Sally who gave Miss some sweeties - and also catch up with some fellow fans and volunteers. We stood by the away bench and Miss gave high-fives to Pete, Prycey, Jo, Coler and of course the Gaffer who she was delighted to see again.

With ample room to roam around, Miss was in her element, although she came home with lots of scrapes on her knees - the sign of a good day out!
Every Winchester goal that was scored was celebrated with excitable clapping (six times in total!) and we even witnessed a Prycey penalty save in a 6-2 win. Tommy Wright was back amongst the goals and Sim came off the bench to score too ⚽️
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Bashley but for a young lady in a pushchair, the facilities are a little challenging. However, the people make up for the facilities and it was a great game of football!
