So season 2024-25 started with a trip to the New Forest to visit Grigg Lane, home of Brockenhurst FC.

Brockenhurst v New Milton Town was Miss’ 50th match and her first of her third season watching football.

After a quick visit to Daddy’s work in the morning, to prepare for this evening’s big match, we made the relatively short journey to the New Forest.

It was a clear drive and we did it in 35 minutes. The car park at the ground was busy so we parked in a neighbouring street in the village and walked to the ground.

It was £4 for Daddy and Miss was free. The kind stewards opened the gate so we could get through with the pushchair. Whilst Daddy has been to Brockenhurst lots of times, it was a first visit with Miss. Some of the pathways around the ground are tight with a pushchair (near the clubhouse) but you can get through and the fellow spectators all kindly moved to let us through.

There is baby changing BUT it is in the ladies toilets in the clubhouse. So Daddy asked the Brockenhurst Secretary very nicely to guard the door whilst we did a quick bum change.

There is a lovely BBQ providing catering for the match so we indulged in a burger before taking our spot for the game. The stand is an old structure, certainly not designed with pushchair access, but no problem we stood by the away dugout.

Today’s away side, New Milton Town, are now managed by Matt Maybury, a friend and fellow Cherries fan so Daddy had a good catch-up with Matt.

The visitors were impressive and won 4-0 and it was good to see former Winchester City Goalkeeper, Brad Snelling, playing in attack for New Milton.

Incidentally, Brockenhurst are now managed by a former Winchester City Assistant Manager, Danny Ackland.

We dodged several heavy rain showers and Miss only ran on the pitch once…

All in all a very good first game of the new season.

A lovely club with a picturesque ground in the New Forest. The age of the ground make the facilities difficult for pushchairs but that said, a baby changing facility always goes down well, as do four goals ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️
