Stormy West London - Hayes & Yeading 1-3 WCFC

So we entered season two for madam, with City comfortably surviving their first season in The Southern Premier League.

In early season two, madam was now ten months old so it was time for a Daddy Daughter away game, just the two of us.

So off we went to Hayes and Yeading United, home of the famous Ted Lasso of course.

The journey up was fairly painless considering it involved the M25. Miss slept for the bulk of the journey. Daddy had Radio 5 Live on.

Upon arrival at The SkyEX Community Stadium, there was a decent sized car park at the ground. However, access to the turnstiles was challenging due to lots of large puddles in the gravel car park, it had been a very wet August, not ideal for the pushchair. But we made it to the gate and through a side gate to get in with the pushchair.

As always, first port of call, a nappy change. No sign of a baby change facility. I may have been wrong and there may have been one in the bar, but we didn’t venture into the bar on this trip. So it was a toilet cubicle floor with the portable nappy changing mat for Miss on this occasion. With the formalities out of the way, it was time for a burger and cup of tea before the game.

Moments before kick-off, a torrential downpour ensued. I couldn’t get myself and Miss under cover in time, so I hid my head in the pushchair with little one, much to her amusement, whilst Daddy’s back got absolutely soaked.

It was like rain I’ve never seen before, so torrential, we were lucky the game wasn’t abandoned!

So glad it wasn’t though, an excellent display from the Citizens, coming from 1-0 down at half-time to win 3-1. Jordan Rose headed City level before goals from Conor Lynch and Simba Mlambo wrapped up the points.

The journey home was equally painless as the one up, and by the time we got home, I had finally dried off! All in all, minus Daddy’s forgotten coat, a success of a first away day, just the two of us.
