On the road

A week after taking our daughter to her first game with just Daddy, it was another milestone a week later, a first away game.
Winchester City were away at Bracknell Town (who play at Sandhurst Town FC).
We journeyed up the M3, the three of us, to see the Citizens.
There was a small car park on the main road, and then a walk across the park to get to the ground.
Bottom Meadow is a tidy ground, with a small seated stand on one touch line and a nice clubhouse behind the goal with terracing in front.
We knew where we stood with The Charters Community Stadium. We had a routine - where to do feeds, nappy changes and our baby was comfortable in her surroundings there. Everything changes away from home.
Panic set in - a nappy change was required. Where do we go, there’s no baby changing facilities…why would there be?
Luckily there was a Disabled Toilet so a decent floor space for the portable changing mat to make an appearance. No bin though (sorry Bracknell!)
There was seating in the clubhouse that overlooked the pitch though, so when Miss got cold in the second-half, we could watch the game from indoors. A 3-1 loss ensued though, so Soccer Saturday in the bar was the focus of madam’s attention… and cooing at anybody that would give her eye contact in the clubhouse.
Cue a 45-minute drive home and a nap in the car.
