Just the two of us

So Lauren and I had taken our daughter to three Winchester City games, and we’d even enjoyed a baby-free Saturday, where we went to watch Bournemouth get comfortably knocked out of the FA Cup by Burnley.
But several weeks later, Saturday 21st January, City were away from home, so to give Lauren a break, I took Miss out for a drive, and conveniently ended up at Chilcomb, where Winchester Castle were entertaining Moneyfields Reserves.
I hadn’t been to Castle for many years. I had a brief playing spell with the Hampshire Premier League side many years earlier, and a work colleague played for them, so it seemed an ideal spot to take in a local game close to home.
It was cold. Always is on top of the hill at Chilcomb. There is no protection from the elements. There is ample parking but the pitch is at the far end of the park, so a long walk across either bumpy grass in freezing conditions, or boggy grass in damp conditions, is in order.
Once again there are no facilities for baby changing, there is also no step-free access to the clubhouse, but this is Step 7 Non-League and with free entry, so there are no grounds for complaints, so a nappy change in the car boot was the order of the day on this occasion.
Needless to say at three months old, our little lady stayed in her pram throughout the game and slept for much of it, leaving Daddy to watch the game.
Castle won 2-0, and the Chairman shouted me a brew. Result.
